NEW: Renew your Blue Heron Squadron Membership: It is renewal time folks! Boating season right around the corner. Renewing your membership in Blue Heron Power & Sail Squadron is easy. There are at least three ways to renew:

  1. When a reminder email arrives from CPS-ECP, just follow the links, and have your credit card and membership number handy. Very simple.
  2. When an invoice arrives in the mail, simply pop a cheque into a return envelope.
  3. Contact our membership officer, Graham Peck.

NEW: Marine VHF Radio Course: WaveSkills Sailing School will be putting on a VHF radio course with GMDSS and DSC (digital selective calleing) endorsement in March. 

Certificate received will be ROC(M) (Restricted Operator Certificate Marine) required by boaters to operate Marine VHF and MF radios, DSC (digital selective calling) and other GMDSS safety equipment. The ROC(M) is a Canadian Federal government-issued certificate allowing operation of a marine radio, and is required by anyone using basic marine radios.

Location:  House of Sport ( Sport PEI ), 40 Enman Crescent , Charlottetown.
Rooms: Room 236 (March 23) & Room 234 (March 24)

Pre-registration is required.  Books will be available prior to the course from Marine Source (formerly Hall & Stavert) at 22 McCarville St in the West Royalty Business Park. Cost of the course is $75 or $70 for WaveSkills students and Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons members, and includes course, radio practice, text, exam, and Transport Canada certification and card. NEW: Pleasure Craft Operator's Card was mandatory in Canada by 2009:  As of 2009, all boaters in Canada must hold a valid Pleasure Craft Operator's Card or equivalent ("proof of competency") to operate a pleasure craft fitted with a motor.
