Blue Heron Squadron Turns 50 in 2011

Better Recreational Boating Instruction on PEI for
Over 50 Years

Blue Heron Power & Sail Squadron was started in 1961 by a group of 15 dedicated Charlottetown boaters (see History). Since then, Squadron volunteers have helped thousands of PEI boaters learn to be better boaters.

To celebrate 50 years of teaching better boating, and to draw attention to the importance of learning better boating skills and knowledge, Squadron members are planning a series of special events throughout 2011.

At Blue Heron Squadron's winter courses in January 2011:

  • Rollout of our free 2011 calendar. These calendars will also be made available at businesses serving boaters in Charlotttown:

About the Canadian Power & Sail Squadrons: "Canadian Power & Sail Squadrons (CPS) is a nationwide organization of boating enthusiasts. Their aim is to increase boating safety and enjoyment by providing instruction in all phases of seamanship and navigation, both power and sail.  It is a charitable, membership-type organization, incorporated under the Companies Act of Canada.
